South Yorkshire Climate Alliance

SCA Monthly Meeting

At our monthly meeting on Tuesday 18 October , 7pm online Zoom link below, we are going to consider four key issues confronting climate and nature campaigners currently and consider how we can liaise across groups most effectively.

We will hear short  presentations on four topics – all of which are if general interest as well as specifically linked to some groups’ campaigns.
Martin Reed from the Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust will speak about the ELMS strategy and why the Trust, the RSPB, the National Trust and others are furious about the recent government announcements
Simon Bowens from Friends of the Earth will share details of the new FoE led Inited for Warm Homes campaign
Gordon Dabinett will explain the importance of Local Plans and the issues around the much delayed Sheffield Plan
Sam Wakeling will demonstrate how the carbon ‘spend’ available to a local authority if they wish to meet net zero by an agreed time (in Sheffield’s case 2030) must be spent wisely and action taken early.
Following the presentations, small group discussions will focus on areas of interest and potential joint action
